The P8 measure is a progress measure that reflects the amount of progress each pupil makes from their starting point in year 7 to where they leave in year 11.  This is based upon the best 8 grades each pupil achieves (5 of which are the EBACC subjects).

A P8 score that signifies a progress rate that is broadly average can range from +0.5 to -0.5

A P8 score of less than -0.5 signifies a progress rate that is below the national average

A P8 score of more than +0.5 signifies a progress rate that is above the national average

The P8 score in each year signifies that the progress the pupils make on average is broadly average
