Half Term Break News

As the half term break approaches we wanted to inform you of some new developments and key dates for your diary.

Dear Parent/Carer,

This time of year is always extremely busy as we enter the exam season. Year 11 pupils are sitting their GCSE exams and we are therefore running an intensive programme of revision before, during and after school to ensure they achieve the best possible grades. There are revision classes also being run during the half-term break and these are outlined in the table below. I am certain that, as parents of pupils involved in the examinations, you will do everything you can to support your child during this important period and ensure that they attend all their exams and revision sessions promptly and with the correct equipment. The staff at Worden, and I, wish them all every success.

I am pleased to be able to inform you that we have successfully bid for further funding to improve the fabric of our buildings.  The Education Funding Agency has now awarded us over £240,000 to renew our school kitchen and improve dining facilities.  This means we have now received in excess of £1 million since we converted to an academy.

I am pleased to say that you will see us at the Leyland Festival this year on the 17th June.  We will have a float in the festival parade and our Worden marquee will be on the park throughout the day.  As usual, we will be asking for pupil volunteers to represent Worden on the float and in our marquee.  I hope, as parents, you will support us and I look forward to seeing you at some point during the day.

Finally, I am pleased to announce that Worden will again be hosting the Leyland Health Mela on Saturday 14th October 2017.  The event is a festival of wellbeing for the whole family and I encourage you to attend.  There will be range of health-related information available from different professionals along with games and fun activities for all ages.  Please come along and have a go at smoothie making, have a reiki taster session, get a free health check, have a go at Zumba or just get free advice on a whole range of health and wellbeing issues.

Yours sincerely,

Mr C Catherall
