Y10 Mini Links Day at Runshaw College

The year 10 GCSE Food Nutrition visited Foxholes for a day to experience what it would be like if they choose a career in the Hospitality Industry.

Worden-Runshaw-Minilinks-2017They were given demonstrations and tasting of dishes of pasta and salmon by the third year students.  The 3rd years were extremely helpful and discussed their recent placements within the Industry at Michelin stared restaurants.

The yr 10s  were also allowed in the Training kitchen and learned about different equipment used by the students to produce some of their award winning dishes at their evening and lunch productions which they serve to the public.

Our students  produced their own sausage rolls and biscuits which they were allowed to take away.

Our year 10 students enjoyed producing their own Mocktails and competed against each other for the best taste.

In the restaurant they learnt how to serve customers and watched and sampled Crepe suzette , flambé work, how to take orders this also gave them an insight into the world of restaurant and hotel careers.

Our students gained valuable information into the world of Hospitality and college life. 3 of our student have already decided to opt for this as their next step after leaving school as they were so impressed.
