On Sunday 16th June our cheerleading team competed in the UKCA National Schools Cheerleading and Dance Championships at Belle Vue Sports Village Manchester. It was a new team of Year 7s who were joined by three talented and experienced pupils who had competed for school previously. The team performed in the Key Stage 3 Pom Dance, the biggest category of the day, up against 13 teams from around the country so you might say, the challenge was on!

After a final performance last week for staff on Wednesday, a reflection and further training, the team took to the floor on Sunday. Their performance was outstanding, Mrs Wade felt the routine was the best she had ever seen from the team and the judges agreed, with Worden placing 4th in the UK.

Mrs Wade said "I'm so proud, not only of result, but also of how far the team has come in such a short space of time. It was also amazing to see that Winston, our school lion and the team mascot, also made his debut on Sunday with Ellie B entering the mascot dance off - she's got moves!   Well done to all who took part, you should be very proud of yourselves."

"We are proud of you, say we are proud of you....... good job!" (UKCA)
