We are proud to highlight the incredible achievements of our pupils during STEM Week at Worden. Our young learners demonstrated their creativity, problem-solving skills, and passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We are grateful for their hard work.
In addition to the exciting STEM activities, we are pleased to share that our school has collaborated with businesses to provide career-linked opportunities for our pupils. These partnerships will expose our learners to diverse career paths and help them explore their interests and aspirations.
Concentrix, a global technology company, visited our school on Tuesday, to provide an overview of STEM careers and pathways. Their team members, shared insights into their roles as consultants and the salaries they can earn.
Pupils in Year 9 participated in a Lego game where they worked in teams to produce a "product" for a client, following Concentrix's system. They were then asked to improve the process by making changes to get the product out more quickly. This activity promoted the development of mathematical skills to evaluate speed and quality, as well as problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
We are also excited to announce that Worden was successful in our application to become the host school for the 2024/25 IET Faraday Challenge Day. This is a prestigious national competition, and we are honored to have the opportunity to showcase our pupils' STEM skills and creativity.
The Faraday Challenge Day was delivered by a team from STEMFirst, the IET Faraday Partner for Lancashire, Cumbria, West Yorkshire, and Greater Manchester. 36 of our Year 8 pupils had a fantastic day engaging in fun, hands-on, and relevant STEM activities. They not only learned about STEM but also developed their teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking abilities.
Congratulations to our Winning Team!
We are proud to recognise Harriet K, Connor P, Izzy D, Sophie B, Charlie M, and Eliza P for their outstanding performance and hard work in winning this round. Well done, team!
