Congratulations to all the pupils of Academy@Worden who are celebrating strong GCSE results. It is very pleasing that once again pupil progress is strong across a wide range of subjects.
Our Class of 2025 have been extremely resilient in their determination to overcome the challenges of the past few years and have been a real credit to our school. We are very proud of the hard work and determination that they have shown and we are certain they will go onto have bright and prosperous futures. We would also like to recognise and thank all the parents and carers for all their support.
Headteacher, Mr Hammersley said ‘These pupils have had to work hard to catch up the education they missed due to Covid, these pupils didn’t have a normal Y6 and didn’t sit their SATs tests. They started Worden in ‘bubbles’ and over the course of their time here they have shown determination to overcome these setbacks by working hard and achieving a strong set of GCSE results that is testament to their resilience and I wish them all the best for the future’.
The MP Paul Foster also joined the Y11 pupils to congratulate them on a fantastic set of results. Paul Foster said “I am absolutely delighted at what the pupils and staff have achieved this year, culminating in the best ever results for the school. These things don’t just happen by luck, it is down to extremely hard work from the young people and the dedication and professionalism of the staff who ultimately just want to see every single one of the pupils succeed. Well done Worden!”
Individual achievements deserving of special mention include:
Oliver Eccleston who achieved 3 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and 3 grade 7s

There were many other pupils who achieved fantastic results and these pupils should be proud of their achievements.

72% of all GCSE grades awarded were at the level of grade 4 and above with 59% of all grades awarded at a level of grade 5 and above and 25% of all grades being awarded at a grade 7 and above.
Well done to the class of 2025.
